Happy Feet-The Firecracker Jazz Band's music video
Around three years ago I was visiting my buddy, steel sculptor John Payne's studio when I noticed his oil can collection. In a flash I imagined a video about "Tin Man". That year The Firecracker Jazz Band was looking for a theme for their Asheville Christmas Parade float and I suggested "Wizard of Oz goes to Mardi Gras". I built the Tin Man costume for Asheville tapper, Joe Mohar and Firecracker's entourage started building costumes and a float for the parade. After a sensational parade entry I suggested to them a music video carrying the theme, but this time it would be about Tin Man on tin pan alley running a speak easy. Local video artists Shane Peters and Chris Castle, Joe Mohar, Sara and Je Widenhouse and the band along with their entourage gathered one night at John Payne's Wedge Gallery and filmed this video. Two of my daughter's and their swing dancing friends filled out the cast. Check out the credits for all who participated as it was a group effort. Oh, and I play the wicked witch. The only puppet in the video is Tin Dog, made by John Payne and myself.
